This is our Neuriva reviews, also known as Neuriva Brain Performance from Schiff Vitamins and how it compares to our champion Mind Lab Pro.You also sometimes find it with the name Neuriva Original, as there are now numerous versions of the brain supplements.
Here are the main 5 benefits that have been associated with this nootropic:
- Memory
- Focus
- Accuracy
- Learning
- Concentration
But how well will the ingredients in Neuriva work for you. Will they build your memory?
In this review, look closer at the Neuriva products and how effective it really is. In doing so, we will be looking at the Neuriva ingredients, dosages, how to take it, side effects and generally just a full breakdown of this nootropic and whether or not Neuriva is the right option for you.
Neuriva Review Overview
On the whole, we feel that some of the aspects of Neuriva could've been executed better, especially when it comes to the ingredients. Although there are some ingredients in here that can help memory, there are still only two ingredients overall. Phosphatidylserine and Coffee Fruit will only get you so far. Especially with the dosages that they are at in this brain supplement. Neuriva reviews almost as an unfinished nootropic, there's a lot of good ideas there, but not enough as has been acted upon to make this one of the great nootropics.

How do you take Neuriva?
To take Neuriva, Schiff Vitamins recommend that you take one capsule daily at bedtime.
This is one of the more interesting takes that we’ve seen for a nootropic, as you want to be taking most nootropic and brain performance stacks in the morning to get your brain kicked into high gear for the day ahead.
By taking Neuriva Brain at night, you may be losing any actual benefit to your sleep, and not being able to get that high level brain function from it throughout the day.
However, Schiff Vitamins may have more have a maintenance approach with their products. It’s doing background work to give you better focus memory with long term use? That could be our only explanation.
I use plenty of maintenance nootropics and have no problem taking them first thing in the morning as long as I keep some form of consistency to keep the benefits coming.
Neuriva Ingredients: Label
That was the label for the Neuriva Brain Performance nootropic by Schiff Vitamins. If you can’t see it, below you can see it in a more readable format.
Full List of Neuriva Ingredients:
- Coffee Fruit Extract (Coffea Arabica / Coffee Cherry / Neurofactor) – 100 mg
- Phosphatidylserine (Sharp PS) – 100 mg
That’s it; two natural ingredients. One we’re very familiar with (Phosphatidylserine levels) and another that we’re not sure it has what it takes to make up 50% of a nootropic stack (Coffee Fruit Extract).
The one thing we’re grateful for is that Neuriva Brain Performance had the decency to include the individual dosages of each ingredient. You’d be surprised how many nootropic companies are too shy to show their dosages.
We’d also like to point out that Neuriva is vegan friendly, with the capsules in question being mainly made out of rice brain, and soy which makes it ideal for vegan supplementation. It’s also worth noting that Neuriva is also gluten-free, GMO-free and decaffeinated.
Now, without further a-do, let’s look closer at what exactly is in Neuriva and how it can help brain health:
Coffee Fruit Extract / Coffee Cherry – 100 mg
In our opinion, this is not a great start to a Neuriva review of the ingredients. Coffee Fruit is claimed to help Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF).
Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) being a protein which can help with the growth and development of your brain cells. This means it can help to make your neurons more effective in terms of growth, while reducing degeneration and also help with the production of new neurons.
So, does Coffee Cherry do this? Will taking Coffee Fruit Extract help improve your brain health via BDNF?
There is a study out there which shows a form of Coffee Fruit Extract to help improve a subjects overall level of BDNF. However, in this study, Whole Coffee Fruit Concentrate was used.
As confusing as this may sound, Whole Coffee Fruit Concentrate is not Coffee Fruit Extract. This means according to these studies, Neuriva may technically not be delivering what you’re looking for to raise BDNF. That said, even if it did, there’s still only one study in circulation showing these benefits.
Coffee Fruit Extract would need numerous studies for us to consider it as a viable option for raising Brain Derived NF levels.
Fortunately, the next ingredient in Neuriva is Phosphatidylserine, which definitely makes this nootropic more appealing when it comes to the ingredients.
Phosphatidylserine – 100 mg
This is the main “good” ingredient in Neuriva. Phosphatidylserine is a good choice when it comes to improving areas such as memory, cognitive decline, and mindset. It’s also been clinically proven in numerous studies.
It’s a fat that is found in high concentrations in your brain – it actually makes up 15% of your brain’s fats, and is also known as phospholipids. The main area where you find it is in your brain cell membranes. Phosphatidylserine is used by your brain to help fluidity, protect neurotransmitters such as dopamine and acetylcholine -with the added benefit also helping to optimize your brain’s receptors.
The nootropic can also help enhance glucose metabolism, which can promote brain cell energy – as your brain runs on glucose. There’s also benefits to be had to your Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) which helps with brain cell creation, repair and maintenance.
Finally, it has the additional benefit of helping your brain to recycle brain cells which are not performing such as damaged or toxic options.
There’s a lot to be gained from supplementing Phosphatidylserine. 100 mg is an okay dosage – but we would be happier if there was something more efficient in here like 150 mg.
Neuriva Brain Performance Formula Summary and Review
The ingredients of Neuriva Brain Performance leave something to be desired. In our personal opinion, we believe one of the ingredients will have enough of an impact here – the Phosphatidylserine.
And although the Phosphatidylserine is one of our favorite nootropic ingredients, we believe even that may fall short of the mark in Neuriva Brain Performance, purely because it contains 100 mg not 150 mg.
Sure, it can help you with focus, memory function, cognitive decline and general brain function – but it if it is not dosed at its most optimum level, it’s ability to do so is impeded.
Although it is does have a claim from the FDA that it can help cognitive decline, dosage is everything. If it was a little, higher we’d be more likely to be more favorable of Neuriva.
Then there’s also the issue with the Coffee Fruit extract. It’s unclear whether this will perform as well as the Whole Coffee Fruit Concentrate that we have seen in studies. Using these products may help to improve your levels of BDNF, but it’s too hard to tell in a case like Neuriva as it’s using an ingredient that only has one study to support it – and it’s technically not about the ingredient in question.
There may be better options out there when it comes to getting the most out of your brain cells.
If they could improve Neuriva, we believe Schiff Vitamins would get great benefit from the following:
- Increasing the Phosphatidylserine dosage
- Adding Cognizin Citicoline
- Remove the Coffee Fruit Extract
- Reformulate it in a way that allows you to take Neuriva in the morning
- Using more herbal ingredients like Bacopa Monneiri, Rhodiola Rosea and Maritime Pine Bark
These are all natural ingredients which can help to improve the overall potency of Neuriva, as well as it’s effects on memory, brain health and other cognitive benefits this nootropic has.
Side Effects: Is Neuriva Safe to Use?
Yes, Neuriva should be safe to use. No side effects appear to have been reported.
We can understand why no side effects have been reported (or at least hard to find) for Neuriva – it only contains two natural ingredients; Coffee Fruit Extract and Phosphatidylserine.
Although I can’t speak much for Coffee Fruit Extract, I know that Phosphatidylserine has been rigorously tested under numerous pieces of research and does not appear to have any links to causing side effects or any problems for your brain health, brain cells or brain in general.
You should be safe using Neuriva from Schiff. How well these ingredients boost your memory, and general cognitive performance however may be a different story.
It should also be worth noting that we are not medical professionals and if you’re unsure about nootropics that you should always speak to a medical professional or your doctor before using them.
Neuriva Reviews Conclusion: Is it worth it?
If you’re looking for a full comprehensive nootropic to boost brain power – Neuriva might not be that option.
However, if you’re looking for a very simple nootropic with only two ingredients that you’re planning to build a stack around – Neuriva could be what you’re looking for.
Typically I use nootropics that have a variety of ingredients that help to promote my brain power and cognition in numerous ways. Neuriva reviews as something that only offers the benefits that you would get from your standard Phosphatidylserine supplement.
So, you’ll get a boost in your memory, focus, and generally have more support against cognitive decline. Could Neuriva be better? Sure. Increase the PS dosage, kick out the Coffee Fruit, add a few more clinically researched nootropics in there and formulate it so it can be taken in the morning and it’ll be an absolute stunner.
Is it anything close to that at the moment? In our opinion, no – no it isn’t. There’s a lot of work that needs to be done to the ingredients in this nootropic to help it’s chances at improving your BDNF and improving brain health in general.
It’s not the worst nootropic reviews we’ve seen – but it’s definitely not the best.

Neuriva Brain Performance FAQ
Below is a list of questions we have been asked on the site about Neuriva that we couldn’t find a way to work into this reviews structure without breaking the structure and flow of it.
For your benefit, here are the most commonly asked Neuriva questions:
Is Neuriva Legit?
Yes. Neuriva is legit. Legit in the sense that it is not a scam operation. It is from a real company called Schiff Vitamins who have been around since 1936.
Although we may have our differences when it comes to the ingredients and dosages, this is a safe company to order from and you shouldn’t run into any issues. There are also no links to Neuriva causing side effects, the nutrients used are all natural and it’s generally just a clean product.
Is Neuriva Good for the Brain?
Neuriva can help support various brain functions. This is mainly (if not entirely) down to the phosphatidylserine in this supplement.
Phosphatidylserine which actually has a claim from the FDA to help reduce the effects of cognitive decline. It’s a good nutrient in Neuriva and has been seen in clinical study to help areas such as memory, focus, mood and more.
The only thing we believe that is holding it back in Neuriva is the dosage. If that was a little higher and if there were more natural nootropics in here to support it, it would be much more effective.
We also believe the Coffee Fruit needs a tinker too, it’s not clear that this coffee cherry extract is coffee fruit concentrate powder that was used in the study which showed it to boost BDNF.
Do Brain Supplements really work?
Yes, brain supplements do work when used correctly. It just depends on which brain health supplement you have. There are numerous options out there with various claims, and in our opinion, only a few of these products actually deliver on these claims or boost BDNF levels.
A good rule of thumb to see if the brain supplement / nootropic is going to work for you is to ensure that you do thorough research. Analyze the ingredient label, look up any study you can find, compare the dosages, look how clean the product is.
There is this and numerous other factors that need to be taken into account when doing your research, but this is why things like Neuriva reviews exist. We take the time to look as closely as we can at a popular brain supplement on the market to make sure that it delivers both for ourselves, and for you.
For example if you wanted to know about Prevagen, looking up reviews on Prevagen, reviews of Prevagen or reviews for Prevagen may give you a good idea of what to expect for that brain supplement. But we always strongly suggest that you do your own research and look into these brain supplements as closely as you can to ensure you’re getting the best results.
Does Neuriva give you energy?
Yes, Neuriva has the potential to give you brain energy. This comes down to Phosphatidylserine nootropic in this supplement.
The PS in Neuriva has been linked to promoting your brain’s glucose metabolism. Glucose is the main fuel of your brain, it needs glucose to perform optimally. By helping to enhance your brain’s glucose metabolism, PS can help to support your brain cell energy production.
This can help you to feel more alert and focused. Again though, as good as that may be, we’re always concerned with the fact that Neuriva is recommended to be taken at night.
Is Neuriva Vegan?
Neuriva is a vegan brain supplement. All the ingredients are plant based, and the capsules are made out of a mixture of both rice bran and soy.
If you’re following a vegan lifestyle and wondering about Neuriva, you shouldn’t have an issue taking it. There is nothing on their website that leads us to believe that this is not a vegan supplement.
They claim it is an entirely plant-based product, and as they only have two ingredients in here, we’re inclined to believe them. If you’re vegan and looking into using this brain supplement, you shouldn’t have issues taking this option from Schiff.
Is there Caffeine in Neuriva?
No. There is no caffeine in Neuriva. There are no stimulants whatsoever in this nootropic. Although it contains coffee fruit, Schiff claim that this has been decaffeinated and does not offer the effects (or side effects of the stimulant).
We like when a brain supplement does this. Caffeine should always be an option, not a requirement. Although caffeine has some nootropic benefits, it can also have some drawbacks when not managed effectively.
If you’re looking to build a caffeine stack with your nootropics, you should always look to include the basics in there which can help to manage its effects.
L-Theanine works well Caffeine as it can help to manage the energy crashes, as well as Vitamin B (B6, B9 and B12) as these are often depleted while under the effects of the stimulant. L-Tyrosine is also another good angle as that can help your body cope under more stressful situations.
