Wondering about who would win a fight between Neuriva VS Prevagen? In this article, we will be looking closely at both of these brain supplements to determine which on is the best for cognition.

This article, is more of an over view of both Neuriva and Prevagen to see if there is a clear champion among the two.

You’ll learn more about their ingredients, side effects and general pricing to find out which is more right for you.

Here’s what you need to know:

Neuriva VS Prevagen Ingredients

Neuriva and Prevagen contain entirely different ingredients – however, they both only contain two ingredients.

Before we get into the specifics of each ingredient – we always feel that only two ingredients in a nootropic stack is a poor show. There’s potentially not enough in here to do to some full-spectrum cognitive boosting despite what the claims may say.

Most ingredients are only capable of boosting a few things. 2 ingredients will rarely get you there.

No that, that’s out of the way, let’s look at the individual ingredients.

Neuriva has:

  1. Coffee Fruit / Coffee Cherry Extract – 100 mg
  2. Phosphatidylserine – 100 mg

And Prevagen has:

  1. Vitamin D – 50 mcg (2000 IU)
  2. Apoaequorin – 10 mg

Let’s take a closer look:

Neuriva Ingredients: Quick Overview

The Coffee Fruit extract in Neuriva is thought to help Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) which can help the brain in a variety of ways.

However, there is only one study which shows it to work this way. The ingredient in question was also Whole Fruit Coffee Concentrate – which is technically not Coffee Fruit Extract, as that may not have the same active components as whole fruit coffee concentrate.

Not a great start. However, the Phosphatidylserine is far more enticing. With an FDA-qualified claim for helping cognitive decline and being seen in clinical trials to help raise glucose metabolism which can help brain cell energy, Phosphatidylserine is a much better choice.

It has been seen to help with brain generation, memory, mood, and even helping to remove toxic brain cells in your system.

A far better ingredient in Neuriva than the Coffee Fruit – we just wish the dosage was higher. 100 mg of Phosphatidylserine is not as effective as the 150 mg that you seen in most nootropic stacks. If this was improved, this brain supplement may have more of an effect.

Prevagen Ingredients: Quick Overview

Prevagen on the other hand contains Apoaequorin and Vitamin D.

Vitamin D is good for a variety of essential functions in your body, but it’s not going to make an alarming difference to your cognition. Not a lot of people get enough vitamin D throughout the day, so we’re happy to see it as a support here, but aside from that, you’re not going to see any major changes to your cognition with this option.

So, what about Apoaequorin? Also another potential disappointment – like the Coffee Fruit extract, there’s only one study that vouches for the effectiveness of this brain supplement.

Apoaequorin come from jellyfish, and is believed to help remove calcium from your brain to enhance its overall performance. Whether or not this is true, there is one study that shows Apoaequorin to help memory – but only in individuals that did not have memory issues. Which smacks to us of placebo effect.

As there’s only one study, we believe a lot more research needs to be done before we start singing the praises of Prevagen’s Apoaequorin.

Prevagen VS Neuriva Ingredients Summary

Both of these mainstream brain supplements have their downsides, but if we had to pick a winner between the two – we’d side with Neuriva.

Sure, it’s low in Phosphatidylserine – but at least Phosphatidylserine has a plentiful amount of studies on it for cognition and brain health.

Whereas Prevagen’s Apoaequorin has a single study and not much else to go on. Much like the Coffee Fruit extract in Neuriva.

The Vitamin D is a good inclusion in Prevagen, not for brain health – but for health in general. Although that isn’t really the purpose of Prevagen – to be a Vitamin D supplement.

For the ingredients, we’d have to say Neuriva is the clear winner.

Neuriva VS Prevagen Side Effects

When it comes to the ingredients in both Neuriva and Prevagen, no side effects have been commonly reported for either brain supplement.

That said, everyone responds differently and we are not medical professionals. If you have any concerns, you should speak to your doctor or a medical professional before proceeding with either of these nootropics.

Coffee Fruit extract hasn’t been linked to causing any side effects, and Neuriva’s Phosphatidylserine shouldn’t cause any problems either – especially at the low dose of 100 mg.

Prevagen contains 2000 IU of Vitamin D which again, is definitely within safe daily levels for this vitamin. Apoaequorin has been seen to not cause side effects in large dosages and is not expected to cause allergic reactions.

Both of these seem clean and easy for you to take without any issues.

Prevagen VS Neuriva Side Effects Summary

It’s a draw. Both supplements appear clean and don’t have any repeated links to causing side effects when taken on a regular basis.

Again, if you have concerns about Neuriva or Prevagen speak to your doctor before using it – but most people should be fine taking these nootropics.

Neuriva VS Prevagen Price

In most cases, Neuriva is priced between $35.00 – $39.99 for a monthly supply. This is about average for most nootropics on the market.

Whereas Prevagen is typically priced between the $65.00 – $79.95 depending on where you shop. A lot steeper than Neuriva for the same amount of capsules.

Prevagen VS Neuriva Price Summary

Considering we awarded Neuriva with the better ingredient profile, and the fact that it’s cheaper than Prevagen, we have to say Neuriva has the better price point.

It’s cheaper and there’s more research on the ingredients. That seems like a clear answer to us.

Neuriva VS Prevagen: Which is better overall?

In a controversial answer, we would have to say Neuriva is the better brain supplement BUT that does not mean it is the best nootropic on the market.

There are plenty of better brain supplement stacks out there for a similar price which delivers far more than both Neuriva and Prevagen.

If you do your research and check out some more stacks out there and analyze the ingredient panels – you’ll see that you can do far better than Neuriva or Prevagen.

But if you had to make a choice between these two: it has to be Neuriva all the way.
